MELSADENT
Dental prosthetics used in dentistry are appliances that restore essential functions such as chewing and speaking while also improving aesthetics after tooth loss. In most cases, untreated gum diseases lead to tooth and bone loss. With dental prosthetic treatment, lost oral health is restored.
Types of Dental Prosthetics
Fixed Dental Prosthetics;
These are cemented restorations such as crowns and bridges that cannot be removed by the patient. Fixed prosthetics are bonded inside the mouth using special materials and are the most commonly used option for restoring missing teeth.
Removable Dental Prosthetics;
Removable prosthetics can be taken in and out by the patient and should be included in daily oral hygiene routines.
Complete Dentures;
These prosthetics replace all missing teeth in the mouth. Supported by the upper and lower jawbone, they are commonly known as “false teeth” and serve as a solution when implants are not suitable.
Partial Dentures;
These are used when fixed prosthetics cannot be applied. They are supported by clasps attached to existing teeth and are also called “tissue-supported dental prosthetics.” They can be removed by the patient and must be cleaned daily.
Precision Attachment Dentures: These are aesthetic prosthetics preferred by patients with partial tooth loss and do not have visible clasps or metal components.
